Dr. Ruchi Singh is Assistant Professor in Centre of Labour Studies, School of Management and Labour Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. She did her Post Doctoral Fellow from Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru, India, Ph.D from School of Economics, Central University of Hyderabad and M.Phil from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. During her Post Doctoral Fellow in Supply Chain Management Centre (SCMC) Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bengaluru she led two major projects, one from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Impact of Highways on Livelihoods and another one from Comptroller Auditor General (CAG), India on Public Distribution System.
She has been facilitated as “Springer Nature Research Integrity in Science & Education (RISE) Young Women Researcher (Her Research, Our Future)” in an event- Springer Nature India Research Tour 2024 held at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. Currently she is working as a Thematic Expert in a project, initiated by the Government of India “Prayas”. Project is focused on mapping skilled and student migration from India, is carried out by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), United Nations and conducted by Voluntas, Denmark.
She has published the book “Exodus of Men from Rural Uttar Pradesh” published by Transnational Press London. She also has published roughly thirty research papers in various journals and edited volumes published by reputed publishers such as Taylor and Francis, Edward Elgar, Springer nature etc. She has presents more than 40 research papers in various national and international forum in field of migration and related studies. She is Reviewer in various journals such as Journal of Economic and Administrative Services, Emerald publishing, Springer Nature Journal “Humanities and Social Sciences Communications” Nature; Management & Labor Studies, Sage Publications; Asian and Pacific Migration Journal, Sage Publications, Journal of Development Policy and Practice, Sage Publication, Urbanization, Migration and Development, Taylor and Francis Publication etc and many more.Additionally, she is also reviewer for the world’s largest scholarly conference on migration organized by IMISCOE (International Migration Research Network). IMISCOE is the largest multidisciplinary network and comprises sixty-three research institutes spanning many countries and fields, such as economics, law, demography, public administration, geography, history, sociology, and political science. She is an organizing committee member of largest global scholarly conference “The migration conference” since 2017.
She has also completed the ICSSR major project on Rural –Urban Migration of INR 1.5 million in 2021. She is also an executive member of GRFDT and served as State President-Karnataka in Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, (WICCI). She has organized and conducted numerous workshops and conferences in the field of migration and related issues. She has presented papers and has been invited as expert/resource person at various national and international forums and institutions.
She takes numerous courses such as Economics, International Labor Standards & Decent Work, Green Economy and SDGs, International Institutions, Research Methods, Consumer Behavior etc. She also holds great experience of taking various MDP sessions on Business Economics for corporations such as Infosys etc. She is a vivid traveler and has traveled to 30+ countries.
