Kannur University invites applications for three full-time research positions. The position provides the opportunity to work in a leading international research institution with high academic standards and an interdisciplinary environment. The appointment will be purely on a contract basis. The position is part of Ryerson University funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) project titled International Coalition for Decentering Migration Knowledge – DEMIKNOW. The project aims to study the role of families in decision making and mobilizing resources on international student migration to Canada and Australia.

Required and desired qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications:

Research fellow- I (9 months)
● Hold an M.A. in Sociology
● Preferably 1 years of professional experience in the field of migration
● Exceptional thinking, writing, and editing skills
● Knowledge of qualitative analysis software like NVivo/ ATLAS.ti is essential
● Demonstrated capacity in fundraising and institutional development, and access to a
growing network of decision-makers and opinion leaders in migration and adjacent fields.
● Ability to effectively collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data through both
primary and secondary sources.
● Be fluent in English and Malayalam
Remuneration: 25,000 INR per month

Research fellow – II (4 months)
● M.A/M.Phil in Demography/Population Studies or allied subjects
● Preferably 1year experience in the field of migration.
● Exceptional thinking, writing, and editing skills
● Knowledge of statistical software like SPSS/STATA/ R is essential
● High motivation and initiative; ability to handle multiple assignments, prioritize, and
meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
● Demonstrated capacity in fundraising and institutional development, and access to a
growing network of decision-makers and opinion leaders in migration and adjacent fields.
● Be fluent in English and Malayalam
Remuneration: 30,000 INR per month

Research fellow-III (9 months)
 Hold an MA in Applied Economics
 One year training in demography
 Knowledge of statistical software like SPSS/STATA/ R is essential
 Preferably 6 months of experience in research
Remuneration-25,000 INR per month

Working hours: 40 hours per week
